Dear Bored Employee,

Hi friends, it’s Elliott, your trusty Chief Morale Officer at Break the Norm Leadership! 🐕💼

I hear this question often: How do I know if it’s time for a change in my career? The truth is, feeling uncertain about your next step is totally normal, but here’s a little secret—it doesn’t always mean you need to leave your current job! Sometimes, the change you need is right where you are.

Here are a few signs it might be time to shake things up:

1. You Feel Stuck in Your Role Do you feel like you’re no longer growing or learning new things? If you’re constantly doing the same tasks, it might be time to ask for a stretch assignment—something that pushes your skills and helps you grow.

2. You Haven’t Had a Raise in a While If your responsibilities have increased but your paycheck hasn’t, it could be time to talk about a raise. Don’t be afraid to advocate for the value you bring to the team.

3. You Want More Responsibility Are you ready for a leadership role or a new challenge? Sometimes, the change you need is simply moving to a new role within your company—one that lets you step up and showcase your talents.

4. You’re Feeling Burnt Out If you’re constantly exhausted and no longer passionate about your work, it’s important to consider what kind of change will recharge you. This could mean reworking your workload, discussing work-life balance with your boss, or even exploring a new opportunity.

The Bottom Line: Change Doesn’t Always Mean Leaving Change can be as simple as a conversation with your boss about a new opportunity, a raise, or a bigger challenge. If that conversation doesn’t lead to action, then it might be time to explore what’s out there.

Remember, you deserve to be in a role that excites you, challenges you, and values you. 🐾 Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need—you might be surprised by the opportunities that open up!

Stay pawsitive and keep moving forward!
