BTNL Giving Back
Break the Norm Leadership strongly believes in servant leadership and community partnerships. Twice a month we host free leadership classes in title one schools and yearly, we do a donation drive to support kids in foster care with the non profit Embrace Oregon. We also believe in generational learning and host several of our leadership classes in senior care facilities. We use this opportunity to include the residents in activities and invite them into our learning space. With each act of service, we, as students and staff, hope to make an impact in our communities and learn through the power of giving.

Young professionals is a book club for students 14+ that meets weekly on Zoom, preparing students for life outside of high school. Students will learn skills such as how to be an expert negotiator, develop the leader within, and the fundamentals of teamwork. Together, students will learn how to implement these new skills in their everyday lives. This book club is run similar to a mastermind group, pushing people to think outside of the box by creating a learning environment that promotes diverse perspectives.
Many life skills that high schoolers need to learn aren’t taught in traditional schooling. This 9 week course will prepare them for life now and post graduation. In a safe and nonjudgmental environment students will learn more about college choices, future employment and fiscal responsibility. Each week will build upon the previous week and be taught a professional in their field.
